The Challenge

Slate Blue Studios—part of the Art HOUSE 360 collective—needed to be three things at once: an experimental class studio for teenagers and adults, an affordable co-working space for professional artists, and a reflection of founder Karisa's punk rock, LGBTQIA-celebrating spirit.

The challenge? Creating a visual identity that could appeal to high schoolers taking their first printmaking class and established artists renting studio space, all while maintaining the rebellious, inclusive energy that makes Slate Blue Studios, well, Slate Blue Studios.

The Solution

The zebra became our north star—a symbol of radical individuality that only works in community. Every zebra's stripes are unique, but together those stripes create protection and power. We put a paintbrush at the heart of the icon and built a color system that channels pride without copying it: bold, rebellious hues that signal inclusivity to those who recognize it.

The brand doesn't choose between edgy and accessible, it's defiantly both.
