The Challenge
Karisa, the founder and owner of Slate Blue Studios, an artist co-working space that also offered uncommon classes to students of all ages. It was important to have a visual identity that embraced arts of all backgrounds and showcased a rebel spirit.
The Solution
From the beginning, we knew we wanted to convey this idea of standing out while also being a PART of something bigger. That's when the idea of a zebra appeared. Zebra stripes are highliy individualized and make them stand out, however, when they are together in a collective, their stripes protect them. They are *part* of the collective.
With the zebra as our icon, we were able to lean into the imagery placing the paint brush in the center and as a proud supporter of LGBTQ+ artists, we chose colors that were inspired by but not directly correlated to the rainblow flag.
